This week, we want to talk about building fulfillment.
The Endless Chase
Have you ever felt like something is missing in your life? Do your workdays feel like they drag for eternity? Is your relationship not bringing you the joy you were expecting? Do you spend countless hours scrolling on Instagram and feeling like there must be a better way to live? Well, do I have the cure for you. It’s called fulfillment, and, unlike the fantasy-based idea of happy-ever-after companies like Disney and Coca-Cola have been shoving down our throat for decades, this one doesn’t fizzle out like the soda out of an old can that has been sitting for weeks.
If you feel a bit confused —or think that these two concepts mean the same thing. Fulfillment is the sentiment one experiences when a significant achievement has been met. It is the byproduct of accomplishment, and it’s a more grounded and long-lasting experience than happiness.
Fulfillment is so persistent in our psyche because it is deeply linked to a feeling of triumph that was the direct result of your sacrifice and effort. You were not anointed or granted fulfillment. You earned it. It was the consequence of your hard work and dedication to a goal that ultimately produced results.
And beyond reaching the outcome, whatever it is, you have awarded yourself respect and confidence from your own effort.
Pursue Fulfillment Instead
This is why I always recommend people to forego the idea of the pursuit of happiness. Instead, dedicate your energy to building fulfillment from working on yourself and working on something more significant than you.
Once you have earned that self-respect and confidence, it will stay with you, and nobody will be able to take it away. No tragedy or attacks will ever take what you have built inside of you. Instead, you will be aligned with your true self.
More importantly. Fulfillment serves as a great baseline when going through difficult times or venturing out of your comfort zone and struggling with the discomfort and a lack of joy you might encounter.
Even in the shittiest days, you can always center yourself and remember what a badass you are and how much more you have faced already. You know that you have left a significant mark in this world, and now it is a better place because you came this way.
This one is gonna have to be short because we have to get ready for our trip. It’s a bit late, and we have to hit the trains early tomorrow.
We will share photos and maybe some videos with you next week.
In the meantime, stay safe; stay well.
We love you.
